The last Month

Woah Havent taken pics in a while... Skating on my own alot so not many people to shoot.
Got some shots through the month I have not posted but not enough to do a post with.
A bit has happened to my kit.. Now have a new lens for Rollerderby Sigma 28-100 F2.8
Which looks like it is a good addition the 2.8 will be handy for Sportshalls..

when Dean came to play

Not posted for a bit.. out skating mainly on my own so nothing much to photograph..
Dean came for a brief visit and I promptly stuck them up on facebook.
Forgtting completely about the blog.
Anyway the flash set up really highlights the geometry of the hip.. Dean was worried about flash blindness so proceeded to rock his shades but found he was struggling to see in the failing light :D

After the exitement of the rollerderby. We headed over to Campus for a meetup with CIB Bristol.
Mrs Bigkid got some pointers and I had a blast around and took some Photos..

Roller derby Triple header Tier2 Finals

Another invite to Photograph Roller derby. Decided after talking to a fellow derby photographer that I would use flash next time I photographed derby. The Bristol venue is very well lit so there is no real need for flash but took the oppertunity anyway. Talked to Head NSO (non skating official)  and Head Ref about using flashes and we were good to go.
On a side note it is a bit of a taboo to use flashes for rollerderby. I dont know why, but it is. You see photographers using F2.8 lenses so they dont have to bump up the ISO to get enough light. I dont have £3000 to spend on a lens so flashes make perfect sense to me.
I took some with flash and some without. The flashes do make for a very professional look.

Went to Skate Buckfastleigh but its still under lockdown!
Didn't want to cause grief for the locals so didn't ride it will go back next week.
Stopped on the way home at Ashburton and Chudleigh.
